What if Spark plug gets deteriorated?
A spark plug is one of the essential components in the ignition system. The electrodes of the spark plug wear out due to repeated discharge of high voltage and corrosive oxidization due to combustion, causing the plug gap to gradually increase.
Generally it is recommended to replace the spark plug once in every 12000 kms, as it deteriorates by this time. Prolonged usage of such a spark plug will result in starting trouble, misfiring, lack of power and higher fuel consumption and emissions. In extreme cases, it might even leave you stranded with replacement as the only possible solution.
HGP Spark plugs are specifically designed for your Hero vehicle to ensure long lasting trouble free ride. For further assistance, kindly visit your nearest Authorised Workshop.
When should I replace Air Filter?
The Air Filter, filters the particles and dust in the intake air to protect the engine parts. It generally gets clogged over a period of time due to particles and dust over prolonged usage.
Hero MotoCorp vehicles basically have three different types of air filter, they are, Polyurethane wet type, Dry Paper and Viscous Paper type. The Polyurethane and dry paper filters require periodic cleaning. Polyurethane requires replacement once it is damaged where as Dry Paper Filter requires replacement once in every 12000 km. Viscous type does not require cleaning and replacement is recommended once in every 15000 km. More frequent cleaning or early replacement may be required when used in dusty condition.
If the recommended schedule is not followed, it may lead to lack of engine power, reduced fuel efficiency and premature engine failure resulting in expensive repairs.
Filtering capability may get affected by using a non - genuine air filter. There are many HGP look-alike filters available in the open market, which are inferior in quality. Such filters deteriorate under normal usage causing the filters to shrink, thus reducing their sealing capability. Use only HGP genuine air filter to ensure optimum engine performance and enhance life. For further assistance, kindly visit your nearest Authorised Workshop.
When should I change the Fuel Tube?
A Fuel Tube is a joint through which continuous flow of fuel takes place from the fuel tank to carburetor.
Generally 4 year is the average replacement time recommended for a fuel tube. In exceptional cases like unattended vehicle for over 6 months or more, fuel Hose need to be replaced.
A continuous flow of fuel deteriorates fuel tube due to high volatility of petrol internally and it starts leaking from fuel tube joints indicated by fuel smell.
HGP's fuel hose is made up of different layers of materials, which prevents deterioration against fuel internally and withstands different climatic conditions externally. It is recommended that both ends of the fuel tube are connected with a wire clip.

What if I don’t get Drive chain serviced at recommended intervals?
Life of a drive chain is dependent on proper lubrication and adjustment. If not, it will result in premature wear. Worn out sprockets will tear the drive chain, affecting the performance of the vehicle. Rough running of the motorcycle and chain noise are indicators to replace chain sprocket kit.
If severely worn, drive chain will lead to oscillation while running, may dislodge from the sprocket and damage the components posing a threat to rider’s safety. It also could lead to poor fuel efficiency and affect the drivability.
HGP's Chain Sprocket Kits are made of superior in quality and well tested for a long lasting performance.

When should I replace drive belt of my Scooter?
A drive belt is always in contact with the pulley so it needs to be replaced due to excessive wear over a period of time. Also, it hardens and deteriorates due to ozone and heat due to friction as it is made of rubber.
Recommended replacement time of a drive belt is once in every 24000 kms.
Wear or hardening of the drive belt may cause slippage, leading to power loss and increase in fuel consumption.
HGP's drive belt is a cogged belt with synthetic rubber with fibers comprising of the core, designed to withstand high friction, heat and ozone to give a smoother ride and a longer service life.

What if I face an issue of abnormal squeaking sound and weak braking efficiency?
Usage of brake shoes/pads after exceeding the service limit will make the brake less effective due to reduced friction. Excessive wear causes the metal part of the brake shoes/pads to come in contact with the drum/disc and thereby damaging it resulting in increased cost of repair, importantly the rider’s safety as well.
Increased braking effort and abnormal squeaking sound are indicators of brake shoe, pad, drum or disc replacement.
HGP Brake shoes / pads / drum / disc are manufactured to the highest quality levels viewing the rider’s safety. Features such as usage of non-asbestos friction material on shoes / pads for a cleaner and safer environment make it the best possible solution for your Hero 2 Wheeler.

HGP Cam chain Kit is designed to withstand highest order of stress during engine operation. It also enhances the engine efficiency. For further assistance, kindly visit your nearest Authorised Workshop.
There is a lack of pick-up in my motorcycle. Do I need to replace Clutch Friction Disk?
The friction discs are generally constructed of aluminum plates with a friction material pasted on them. They transmit the power from the engine to the transmission by friction force with the clutch plates.
CFD (Clutch Friction Disk) wear out over a period of time, and should be replaced when the wear exceeds the service limit. The first indication of a CFD wear out is the kick slippage during kick start with vehicles having primary kick starting (All models in 100cc & 125cc category).
A worn out CFD may result in clutch slippage leading to engine overheating, lack of power and acceleration with an increase in fuel consumption. It may also damage other parts such as clutch plates and pressure plate.
HGP Clutch Friction Disk are manufactured from the superior non asbestos material, which not only can withstand high frictional forces and dissipate heat efficiently but also ensure low air pollution due to absence of asbestos. This results in longer service life of the component and prevention of any health hazards.

Erratic idling and loss of control on acceleration while riding is bothering me for some time? Which part do I need to replace?
The throttle cable and linkage may wear and subsequently get damaged over a prolonged usage. Exposure to environment may also cause them to rust and deteriorate. The throttle operation may become sticky and the throttle valve will fail to return smoothly on running the engine at higher speed even when the throttle is released.
Such erratic idling can result in higher fuel consumption and engine overheating. In some extreme cases it may result in loss of control of vehicle when clutch released or when the vehicle tips over posing a threat to the safety of the rider.
HGP throttle cables are designed specifically for a Hero 2 wheeler based on model configuration. These cables are internally lubricated for smoother operation and longer service life.

Gear shift operation has become hard making it difficult to ride my motorcycle. What could be the reason for this problem?
Clutch assemblies use cable to operate the clutch which causes them to elongate and linkage may wear or become damaged after a prolonged usage. When the clutch cable becomes stretched, the clutch free-play increases.
This makes disengaging of the clutch incomplete, causing difficult gear shift operation and clutch drag when in stationary position with the transmission engaged in gear. In some extreme cases it may result in loss of control of vehicle if the cable breaks from the linkages resulting in damage to the vehicle and rider safety. Therefore periodic inspection or replacement is very important.
A non genuine cable can result in improper free-play and hardens the shifting of gears. Therefore, HGP clutch cables are designed keeping into the mind the specifics of each model individually. Also, HGP clutch cables are internally lubricated having smoother operation and longer service life.

Why should I insist on replacing deteriorated fuel strainer screen only with HGP fuel strainer screen?
The fuel strainer screen can either be clogged or damaged due to impurities in fuel. In case of a clogged fuel strainer, fuel level is insufficient in the carburetor (especially during high speed operation) & in case where the strainer is damaged and the impurities are not screened / filtered, it can clog the jets in the carburetor. In both the cases, there will be variation in the air fuel ratio resulting in reduced power during mid to high speed operation and starting trouble.
HGP's fuel strainer screen ensure high filtration of fuel entering carburetor and then to engine. For further assistance, kindly visit your nearest Authorised Workshop.
What will happen if I don’t change Brake fluid?
Over a period of time the brake fluid absorbs moisture through the brake hose, and its boiling point gradually goes down. The absorbed moisture increases the tendency of “Vapor Lock”, a phenomenon that occurs when the moisture in the brake fluid boils due to heat generated in the braking system and starts generating bubbles making the brake ineffective. It also causes rust in the internal parts of the braking system which may cause a functional impairment. Brake fluid also deteriorates due to the heat generated by braking.
Generally, it should be replaced after 30000 Kms or 2 years. Usage of recommended Brake Fluid from a sealed container (DoT 3 / DoT 4) will result in compliance of optimum safety standards. It is recommended that the brake fluid is topped up once the level goes down. Do not mix DOT 3 & DOT 4 brake fluid.

Handlebar has become rough over the last few days along with some noise. Please tell me how to fix this problem?
The steering (handlebar) bearings may wobble or become loose due to the shocks generated from the road, braking and the load on the front wheel. In extreme cases the mounting sections / the bearing races may get damaged and due to inadequate presence of lubricant it may result in hard maneuvering and steering noise.
HGP's ball race kit and lubricant will ensure a trouble free long lasting performance. These items are specifically recommended for better lubrication and enhanced steering components life.
It is recommended that the steering is inspected and adjusted if required during every 3000 kms and lubricated once in every 12,000 kms.

Can I just refill the lost portion of engine oil and not replace it with new engine oil?
If lost engine oil is simply refilled, the new oil mixes with the old oil that was left in the engine. Although engine performance is temporarily restored, sludge and soot affects the engine performance. It is always better to go for a complete engine oil change as per the recommended schedule and top-up. Also, after inspecting the causes of engine oil being lost, it is better to take corrective actions so that it doesn’t happen repeatedly.
